Dementia Nanny™ was created to help families navigate the emotional realities of dementia care with greater support, dignity, and peace of mind.
Dementia Nanny™ was born from firsthand experience working closely with seniors, caregivers, and families navigating the challenges of aging, cognitive decline, and dementia-related care.
Over time, one thing became increasingly clear:
Families are overwhelmed. Not because they don’t love their loved ones. But because dementia changes everything. Simple outings become stressful. Family gatherings require military-level planning. Travel feels intimidating. Hospital stays become emotionally exhausting. Caregivers rarely get the chance to fully rest, participate, or simply be present in important moments.
Many families quietly stop doing the things they once loved because the emotional weight becomes too heavy to carry alone.
Dementia Nanny™ was created to help change that.
Our mission is to provide calm, compassionate companionship that allows families to experience life’s meaningful moments with greater support, confidence, and relief.
Because seniors living with dementia still deserve inclusion, dignity, connection, and experiences that bring comfort and joy.
And caregivers deserve support too.
Dementia Nanny™ is not a traditional sitter service.
We specialize in companionship support specifically designed for families navigating dementia and cognitive decline.
That distinction matters.
Our approach is centered around preserving dignity while reducing stress for both seniors and their families.
We understand that every individual living with dementia experiences the world differently
Azalea McKinney brings nearly a decade of hands-on experience in elder and dementia care — overseeing four adult group homes, managing clinical care teams, and supporting families through some of the most complex seasons of life.
But Dementia Nanny™ wasn’t born in a boardroom. It started on a cruise ship.
While accompanying a client with dementia on a cruise, a fellow passenger watched them together and said something that stayed with Azalea: “I wish I could take my parent on a trip like this — but I wouldn’t know how.”
That moment confirmed what she’d already seen in her work: families weren’t missing these moments because they didn’t want to go. They were missing them because they didn’t have the right support.
As a Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP) and Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist (CAPS), Azalea built Dementia Nanny™ to close that gap — one family, one moment at a time.
We believe dementia care should never strip a person of dignity, identity, or meaningful experiences.
We believe caregivers deserve support without guilt.
We believe families should not have to choose between participation and caregiving survival.
And we believe calm, compassionate companionship can transform overwhelming situations into manageable experiences.
At Dementia Nanny™, our goal is simple: To help families feel less alone while creating safer, more supported experiences for seniors living with dementia.

Every family’s situation is different.
That’s why Dementia Nanny™ begins with a thoughtful conversation focused on understanding
your loved one’s personality, routines, comfort needs, and support goals.
